I found an alternate to the SandDisk SD Ultra II Plus cards: OCZ 2GB Secure Digital Card / USB 2.0 Dual Card ( OCZSDDU80-2GB )
Unfortunately I do not see it larger than 2Gb nor faster than 80X.

1K word version: http://www.ocztechnology.com/images/products/accessories/b/SD-Dual_open.jpg
the whole story: http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/flash_drives/ocz_secure_digital_dual_memory_cards

Our economy will recover.
People need to eat... and drive those big gas-guzzling SUVs.

@ Stephen: I was unable to find 8GB SanDisk Ultra II Plus cards anywhere online (though I did find a mention of them in a SanDisk press release). I suspect you are right about them never being produced. With the bottom having dropped out of the memory card market in the last 18 months I'm not surprised that the market is becoming saturated. However, I also suspect that high performance camera owners are going to continue to look for better high speed products to keep up with their hardware. The test results on Rob Galbraith's website were quite eye opening for me!

I've read that Sandisk has cut production on flash memory to adjust to 2009 projected demand.
I'm also noticing that the Sandisk SD Ultra II Plus [USB] cards are running out of stock everywhere very quickly. They are no longer listed as a products on Sandisk's website. I suspect the 8Gb version was never produced.

The first digital camera I used was the NC2000 made by Nikon and the AP in 1996. It used type III PCMCIA cards, which are twice as thick and long as a CF card is. The largest card we had was a 105MB card. I don't remember exactly how much it cost, but I think it was around $700 (the camera was 1.3 mega pixels and cost c. $20k) at the time. Some one on the staff dropped the card and it was ruined.
